deGrom Returns, But Mets Lose a Heartbreaker to the Phillies

Jacob deGrom made his long-awaited return to the mound on Tuesday night, but the Mets were unable to come away with a win, losing 5-4 to the Phillies in a heartbreaker. deGrom pitched well, allowing just two runs on four hits over five innings of work. However, the Mets bullpen was unable to hold the lead, allowing three runs in the seventh inning.

Peterson has been one of the Mets' best relievers in the minors this season. He has a 2.89 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in 34 appearances for Syracuse. The Mets are hoping that Peterson can provide some much-needed depth to their bullpen.

Upcoming Schedule

The Mets will continue their series against the Phillies on Wednesday night. Taijuan Walker will start for the Mets, while Bryce Harper will start for the Phillies.

The Mets will then travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves for a three-game series starting on Friday. The Mets will need to win at least two of those three games to stay in the race for the NL East title.
