Celtics extend Porzingis for two years, $60 million
Contract includes player option for 2023-24
Porzingis set to make 645 percent more than previous contract
The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $60 million contract extension with forward Kristaps Porzingis, according to his agents Jeff Schwartz and Janis Porzingis.
The contract includes a player option for the 2023-24 season, meaning Porzingis could become a free agent next summer if he chooses.
The new deal will pay Porzingis an average of $30 million per year, a significant increase from his previous contract, which paid him $9 million per year.
Porzingis is coming off a strong season with the Celtics, averaging 19.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
The Celtics acquired Porzingis in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks in February 2022.
