Graceland Foreclosure Sale: Riley Keough Sues to Stop Auction
Presley's Legendary Home Faces Foreclosure
Granddaughter Battles to Preserve Elvis's Legacy
Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, is fighting to stop a foreclosure sale of Graceland, the late singer's historic Memphis home. The lawsuit, filed in Shelby County Chancery Court, alleges that the documents used to initiate the foreclosure proceedings are fraudulent.
Graceland, which served as Presley's personal home from 1957 until his death in 1977, is facing a foreclosure auction on Thursday. The property's owner, Elvis Presley Enterprises, defaulted on a $10.1 million loan in 2019. A foreclosure notice was posted in early May, sparking a dramatic legal battle.
Keough's lawsuit argues that the foreclosure documents were notarized by a person who was not a licensed notary public at the time. The suit also alleges that the signatures on the documents are forged.
Elvis Presley Enterprises has not yet responded to the lawsuit. The foreclosure auction is currently scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 28th.
